What Is Cannabis

Cannabis, also known as weed or marijuana, is a plant that contains chemical compounds which are known for its psychoactive and medicinal properties. These chemical compounds are called Cannabinoids, or most notably THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (Cannabidiol). THC is known to produce a “high” from its psychoactive effects, while CBD does not produce a high and is famous for its therapeutic benefits. Many users look for it as treatment in cases such as anxiety, depression, glaucoma, and reducing muscle spasms from multiple sclerosis. Cannabis has also been noted as an effective treatment for alleviating symptoms for patients undergoing chemotherapy such as stimulating appetite, and managing sleep disorders. The most used case for Cannabis is relieving chronic pain, as it is considered a safer alternative to opiods and has proven very effective when other pain medications have failed.
